I am pleased to announce a new podcast, Justice and War in American History, which is made possible by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

In this series, Ray Haberski and I speak to veterans, active service members, scholars, and civilians about the ways that the experience of war has shaped and been shaped by Americans’ concepts of justice.

In this season, we compare the histories of the Vietnam War, the Spanish American War, and the Philippine American War by examining speeches, letters, presidential declarations, diaries, and more. In the process, we learn about the histories of these wars and the ways that they inform our contemporary discussions and experiences.

Among the topics we address in this season are gender, race, and the experience of coming home.

I invite you to listen and subscribe through your favorite podcast provider (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Overcast, etc.).
