What's in a Film?

As I was reviewing some of my lectures, I rediscovered this slide deck from a course I taught a few years ago on History through Film. The presentation covers the basics of cinematography, which my students found helpful as they tried to describe what they were seeing later in the semester. I use a few films as examples, and the deck includes links to the relevant portions of them. Additionally, the presentation offers some basics about the technologies of filming (e.g. lenses, aperture). If you're teaching your students about film and its history, you may find some of this material useful for your courses.
